Lotte Aluminium gains first ASI certification in South Korea

Lotte Aluminium has been certified against the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Chain of Custody (Coc) Standard at its rolling facility in Ansan, South Korea, it said on January 21.

This marks the first ASI CoC certification in South Korea and the facility's operations include rolling, sepa-slitting and annealing for the production of aluminium foil.

The ASI CoC standard enables companies to demonstrate that material has been responsibly produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors.

"We warmly congratulate Lotte Aluminium for achieving ASI CoC, with their Ansan facility continuing to show the way forward by achieving the first CoC Certification in South Korea,"Fiona Solomon, chief executive officer at ASI, said.

"Achievement of the CoC Certification combined with appropriate upstream sourcing enables Lotte Aluminium’s customers to leverage the company’s responsible production credentials in their consumer-facing products, including the possibility to use ASI on-product labels."Solomon added.

The number of members joining ASI has been rapidly growing while the topic of low-carbon aluminium and sustainability takes hold of the aluminium market.
